MEET AND GREET

Posted on

Welcome to 1st grade!  I am so excited to spend the year with you and your precious child!

I have attached our virtual classroom (Bitmoji style😍). Please be sure to check it out! You can click the links on the whiteboard to see the following:

  • An All About Mrs. Morgan video
  • Open House PowerPoint
  • Meet & Greet Online Form (please complete this ASAP 😉)
  • Meet & Greet Challenge- your child will create a short video sharing his/her favorite color, favorite food and one fun fun fact
    • The Seesaw password is your child’s take home bag.

Tomorrow is our Meet and Greet Drive Thru at Vaughan. I have supply bags ready to go for each child for digital learning. Your child will need these supplies when we meet daily for our lessons. If you are unable to make it tomorrow please let me know. We will figure out a way to get it to you!    I can’t wait to see everyone!

As we get ready for Monday, please plan to do the following:

  1. Download the CTLS Parent app (This is how we will communicate all year.  Classes are not loaded into the app yet, however when they are, I will move announcements/emails there).
  2. Download Seesaw Class onto your child’s device
  3. Bookmark ctlslearn.cobbk12.org on your child’s device. This is where we will house our virtual classroom!

I will send out more information as we get closer to the start of school.  A parent and student guide to CTLS is coming from the county that will detail how to use these platforms (and login info). Please be on the lookout for more communication from me! See you tomorrow! 😍

I am looking forward to an amazing year together!

I hope you all had a great Mother’s Day weekend! This week the digital plans look a little different.  I thought it would be fun to take some virtual field trips.  I planned lessons around our virtual trips and tried to keep them shorter.  I have included some assessments that are for you to use to get an idea of what your child can do at this time. I hope this will be helpful to you. These lessons and assessments are optional and are not intended for me to assign a grade.

  • I have included an assessment for math fact fluency (computation), problem solving, and graphing.

  • I have included reading passages on Level G, H, I, and J.  (First graders are expected to read independently on a Level I with 95% accuracy in word calling and be able to retell the story including the character, setting, the beginning, middle and end). If your child was reading on or above a level I on the March report card you know they are already on or above grade level for the end of first grade.

  • I  have also included rubrics to check their writing they should be in the 3-4 area to meet standards.

I hope you all have a great final week of digital learning. I will be sending out an email later this week with our Zoom meeting time. I will be dropping off a Summer Bingo Board and a Candy Bar Award off at your house this week.  We will play Bingo during this week’s Zoom Lesson. I think the kids really enjoyed the scavenger hunt last week.  It was so great to hear the kids laughing together.  I miss hearing them giggle!!  Have a great Monday learning and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi there Awesome Families,

I hope you all had a great day! As you all know, I went to our classroom to start the pack up process today. I bagged everyone’s stuff up for optional pick up Friday because there were only a few people that I had not heard from yet. See the pick up directions below for more information. It was a little sad walking into the classroom and knowing this years friends would not be back together in our class, but I can’t wait to see them on tomorrow’s 1:00 pm Zoom meeting. We will be having a fun scavenger hunt. Have a great evening!

Good morning,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Monday and was able to get started on their lessons. Today’s Social Studies lesson will be watching the attached video, making a George Washington Carver Flipbook, and sharing their flipbook on Flipgrid. The attached video is a George Washington Carver Screen-O-Cast of an online non-fiction book and a reading of research from the PebbleGo online database. Your child will have plenty of information to complete their flipbook after listening to the video. If you do not have a printer, please have your child just write the information in their notebook. As always, please email me if you have any questions.

Happy Monday Families,
I hope everyone had a great weekend! We are starting week 6 of at home digital learning. Today we will have our art Zoom lesson with Mrs. Moulder at 11:00. The meeting link is at the bottom of the email and don’t forget your materials . I can’t wait to see everyone at the meeting. I have attached the weekly lesson plans and needed attachments to this email. There are lessons for reading, writing, math, and social studies. I attached the optional math worksheets if your child would like to do them for practice. Please remember these lessons are optional, and your family need to do what works best for you all. If you have work from Mrs. Fowles or Mrs. Peterson you can skip work from our class so students are not overloaded. Fridays are catch up days to complete any assignments. Later this week, I will send out a recorded lessons and a Flipgrid link for the students to record their replies. I love these! We will also have a class Zoom meeting later in the week as well. If you have any questions after reading over the lesson plans, please let me know. Happy Monday!!

Good Morning Families!!
I hope everyone got a chance to look over the weekly lesson plans and get started on a few of the activities. If you have any questions, please let me know. For today’s math lesson, students are going to listen to a story called Give Me Half. After listening to the story, students can make or draw something like a pizza and cut it into equal parts. I recorded a story called The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza for the kids to listen to as well. (I’m still trying to get used to recording myself….I’m terrible at this). At the end of the video, I asked the kids to show me their work on Flipgrid. (It is to draw a whole pizza/cookie or even make a real pizza then cut it into fair shares for your family. For example, if there are 4 people in your family cut it into 4 equal parts. They can even split a cookie in half (2 equal parts) to share with their brother or sister. This could even be done with chalk or playdoh. On the Flipgrid link, the students can show and explain their work. I can’t wait to see it! If you are unable to complete the Flipgrid activity today, it can be done any day this week. No worries!
This Thursday, we are going to have a Zoom meeting. I am going to have 2 smaller sessions. If your child would like to volunteer to read story to the group, please email me and let me know. Try to make sure the story is not too long. I will send the times for the meeting Wednesday night.
Please let me know if you think your child’s RAZ Kids level needs to go up or down. It’s very easy for me to change if needed. RAZ Kids is a great app/website to keep your child reading on their individual reading levels. These website will be available all summer.
Happy at home learning Tuesday! You are all doing great!! If you need any assistance, please let me know!
